Craigavon Area Hospital is the designated Cancer Unit for the Southern HSC Trust.

Treatment is provided by named consultants within each service supported by Specialist Nursing Teams.
A new purpose built diagnostic and treatment centre was opened in December 2001 in partnership between Macmillan Cancer Support and the Department of Health.  It has been designed to make the treatment process as pleasant an experience as possible for patients and their families.  Design and planning focused on creating a patient friendly environment where care is delivered by a dedicated team of staff.

Approximately 1450 patients attend each month.  It provides outpatient services in two units:

  • The Glenanne Unit
  • The Mandeville Unit

This purpose built accommodation is the focus of the development of multi disciplinary cancer care for the area.

A screening and symptomatic/diagnostic service is provided within the Glenanne Unit as are genetics and breast family history services.
The Mandeville Unit provide facilities for:

  • Cancer outpatient and day procedure services
  • The chemotherapy treatment unit
  • Specialist palliative and supportive care service
  • Counselling services
  • Enhanced cancer pharmacy services

The philosophy of service within the Unit is:

To provide a patient focused service delivered by a highly skilled dedicated multidisciplinary team within a caring ethos ensuring the best outcome for each patient.
